Douglas G. Buck, P.E.

Douglas has spent a good portion of his career assisting government agencies in solving complex engineering issues. His professional engineering background includes the planning, design and construction of potable water, reclaimed water, and sanitary sewer facilities for agencies including the City of Sparks, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Washoe County Department of Water Resources, and Silver Springs General Improvement District.

In addition to being on the design team, Douglas served as the Resident Engineer & Construction Manager for the City of Sparks Effluent Expansion Project, Phases 4 and 5; the City of Sparks Northwest Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Extension; and the Washoe County Eagle Canyon Phase 1 Transmission Main. Contract costs for these projects totaled $16.8 million. The projects included the upgrade of the main effluent pump station from 3,500 gpm to 22,000 gpm; construction of a new 4,500 gpm booster pump station; a 3.25 million gallon storage tank; three bulk water truck fill stations; telemetry, user meter and pressure regulating vaults; 3.5 miles of 27" to 36" sewer interceptor pipeline 15' to 20' deep; and 16 miles of 200 psi pressure pipeline, including 12.6 miles of 18" to 36" pipeline.

Prior to obtaining his secondary education, Douglas worked as a Planning Technician for the City of Susanville, California. In the Community Development Department, he worked closely with the City Engineer, consulting engineers, planners, developers, and the community on projects throughout the city. This exposure and the mentoring of the City Engineer led Douglas to pursue a career in civil engineering.

A graduate of University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Douglas graduated with high distinction and the honor of being selected as Outstanding Senior of the Year by the Civil Engineering Department.

Douglas is a licensed Professional Engineer in Nevada and California and serves as President of the Truckee Meadows Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is also an active member of the Nevada Water Resources Association and the American Public Works Association.
